Infographic 01/25 - Income disparities influence household food choices in Luxembourg

STATEC has analysed the breakdown of household food budgets by place of consumption, sales outlet and product according to income*. The lowest 20% of households (1st quintile) were compared with the highest 20% (5th quintile). The most modest households buy more from discount shops, but do not necessarily eat less healthily. The wealthiest households buy more from supermarkets and spend more in restaurants.
